27 Things I’m Grateful for at 27

27. How in the heck did I get here?! I’ve been praying this week that I’m actually turning 22 and not 27, haha. Thank you to everyone who has sent sweet birthday messages. It means so much! Today, I’m sharing 27 things I’ve learned and what I’ve become grateful for in the last 27 years.

My Relationship with Jesus

I’ve shared a little bit about this with you, but I am a Christian. This is something that is really important to me, and I try to live every day with my morals and values at the forefront of my mind. I praise Him for all the blessings he has given me, and all the trials. I feel like He is always continuing to prune me and the gifts He has bestowed upon me.

Family is everything and so extremely important. I have an extremely tight-knit family. I call them my orca pod. I’m grateful that I have a family that is always there for me, and so encouraging. I couldn’t imagine life without them.

My Husband

Johnny, who is also family, but I’m thankful for him in so many different ways. I am truly blessed to be married to my best friend. He supports me in so many ways and I don’t know if I can every thank him enough for how he loves and encourages me.

My Mom

Moms. I’m so grateful for my mom, especially. First off, she’s always right. Which can be annoying sometimes, haha, but she is always right. My mom was the one who encouraged me to start this blog, and I probably wouldn’t have done it–or had the courage to do it–if it wasn’t for her. We talk on the phone every single day, whether it’s just to catch up or vent about the day. I don’t know what I’d do without her.

My Dad

I’m thankful for the relationship I have with my Dad. We may not talk every day, but the times that we do talk are high quality. We can talk about work, family, friends and relationships. My dad is wise in so many ways, and I’m so grateful for him.

After marrying Johnny, I gained a whole new side of the family too! We may all live in different places, but I’m grateful for how they love Johnny and I.

My Siblings

My little brothers Ashton and Aidan. I miss them so much, and can’t believe how they’re both growing into adults. Ashton started his first internship, and Aidan is graduating high school! I’m so proud of them.

My Best Friends

Forever Friends. You know who you are.

In this past year especially, I’ve learned how important deep, lasting friendships are. It’s vital to hold onto the friends who stick with you through the really good times and the really hard times. It’s also extremely important to be the same type of friend back. I’ve also learned that there are seasons for some friendships, and that’s okay.

My Health

Good health. This is something that Johnny and I are always praying and thanking God for.

My Job(s)

I work in PR during the day, and am able to freelance write and run this blog all at the same time. I’ve always had multiple jobs, even in college, and I’m grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me.

Yup. Plain and simple.

Trader Joe’s

I literally don’t know how I lived life without my staple items from TJ.

T.J. Maxx

My other favorite TJ. Where I go when I’m happy, sad, or just for the heck of it. Even if I don’t buy anything, it makes my heart happy.

It’s only been two months, but we are in love with this new place we call home.

One of the first things on our checklist when we moved here was finding a new church. Specifically, one that we could become members of. We have found a place where we love the teaching and the community, and we couldn’t be more grateful for that.

Rosie the Retriever

If it hasn’t been clear enough through my Instagram, we got a new puppy named Rosie! She’s a red golden retriever and she has totally changed our day-to-day lives. Because I work from home, I was really wanting a friend to keep me company and she definitely takes up a lot of our attention. But she’s so dang cute, so it’s okay with me. 🙂

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this last year, it’s that self care is important. I use to feel guilty watching tv and relaxing on a weeknight, or saying no when people ask me to do something, but it’s okay to save your “yes’s” for the important stuff and “no”” for when you need a break.

Since starting my blog in January of this year, I’ve made a small virtual community of girlfriends that are so encouraging and helpful. Thankful for women helping other women succeed with their goals.

Amazon Prime

Free two-day shipping has saved my life more than once, and I sincerely mean that.

Warm weather is upon us, and I cannot wait to enjoy the sunshine!

I constantly have music on in the house whether I’m working or deep cleaning. Currently, I’m obsessed with the Parenthood soundtrack playlist–it’s so good!

Ability to Travel

Johnny and I have filled up each month of the year with different places we’ll be traveling to. Next month, New York City!

FaceTime let’s me see my family members as often as I want. I use it even more often now that we have Rosie–have to show everyone how cute she looks when she naps. 🙂

Our Apartment

Johnny and I moved from an outdated apartment in COS, to a brand new apartment in Denver. I’ve never been so grateful for new appliances and hardwood floors.

The Ability to Work from Home

When Johnny found out about his new job, I was granted permission to work mobile, and I have loved every second of it. I feel more productive and able to think more clearly. I’m very thankful that I get to spend more time at home, especially now that we have Rosie.

Do you have this app? I promise this isn’t an add, I sincerely love this app. My best friend from Michigan and I talk solely on this app, and it totally helps us keep in touch and talk when we have the time–especially when there’s a 2 hour time difference.

Thank you for following my blog! I’m so grateful for each and every one of you who take the time to read my posts and follow on Instagram. This blogging thing really does take a lot of work, and it wouldn’t be worth it if people like you didn’t support me like you do.

Here’s to another great year!

Always, Aleesha
